Message from Amanda Waegeli

Dear colleague,

As you will probably will be aware the upcoming World Hearing Voices Congress, this year in Boston MA will be beginning soon. August 16th- 18th 2017 to be exact. More information can be found here: or http://2017congress.hearingvoicesusa.org/

The Australian Hearing Voices Establishment project has been asked by Intervoice to prepare a short Australian report for the upcoming Intervoice Day. We have identified an Australian who will be attending the Intervoice Day who has agreed to read the report on our behalf.

Historically for those who are not aware, the first day of the World Hearing Voices Congress is called Intervoice Day and time is allocated for reports from each country their activities around Hearing Voices is read out and shared with participants. Unfortunately only a brief amount of time is allocated to each country e.g. 5-10 minutes.

The Australian Hearing Voices Establishment Project now need your help and support in forwarding a brief (no longer than one to two paragraphs) summary of you or your organisation, program or collective’s Hearing Voices activities in Australia over the last year.

I will collate the summaries into a report, on behalf of the Australian Hearing Voices Establishment Project and forward it to Intervoice and our representative for presentation. However I will need your brief input emailed to me by Friday July 21st

If you are interested in reading the final Australian report for Intervoice I can also send you a copy when it is complete, so please just let me know.
I look forward to hearing from you,

Kind Regards,
 Amanda Waegeli

Resignation from AHVEP

Following the meeting of the Australian Hearing Voices Eestablishment Project committee tonight I tendered my resignation from the group as I personally cannot support the direction the group is taking.
I am very concerned that no information has been sent out through any of the networks about where the AHVEP is upto.
If you want more information about the project contact Bruce Roberts on 0426334244 or email brob2023@bigpond.net.au

End of an era HVN Australia

Dear all,

It is with regret that I am writing to advise that the Hearing Voices Network Australia (HVNA) website is no longer live. Some weeks ago Richmond Wellbeing made a decision to take the site down due to little traffic reported and also due to a decision to no longer participate in the national scene here in Australia. Richmond currently remains funded by the Western Australian Mental Health Commission to run the HVN Western Australia (HVNWA) which operates as a program of Richmond Wellbeing (in a similar way that Voices Vic operates within Prahran Mission in Victoria). HVNWA’s website has also been taken down as HVNWA has been integrated into the Richmond Wellbeing site.
As many of you will know Richmond Wellbeing has a new CEO as of 12 months now and so new strategic priorities have been set.
Our thanks and gratitude remain strong and deep to our former CEO Joe Calleja who championed the HV work in Australia since 2005 till his semi-retirement in 2016. My role has been scaled back to focus more within the Western Australian scene, however, I am personally supportive of the Australian grass roots steering group which is working toward developing a national entity.
We invite you, as you find the time, to take down any links you have to HVNA.
Please share this information with relevant people who I may have missed or may not have their email addresses.
Warm regards
Lyn
Please note I work Tuesday – Friday across all our services.
